Vision and Role
The National Semiconductor Hub (NSH) initiative aims to build an integrated national ecosystem for semiconductor design and manufacturing in the Kingdom, covering the full value chain of the semiconductor industry.
The NSH acts as an ecosystem coordinator that brings together government entities, universities and research centers, local and international companies, and venture capital, with the objective of establishing a sustainable ecosystem for developing semiconductor design companies and technologies in Saudi Arabia.
The operating model is centered on supporting innovative local and international startups attracted to the Kingdom as the fundamental building blocks of this industry, and on connecting them with all relevant stakeholders.
Strategic Objectives
The NSH aims to enable the Kingdom’s transition from being a consumer of technology to becoming an active contributor to its development, by localizing capabilities across semiconductor technologies and their various and components through:
- Attracting global and regional semiconductor design companies to establish their design centers in the Kingdom and linking them with Saudi talent.
- Stimulating creating local semiconductor startups.
- Supporting the development of career paths for semiconductor engineers, from training and knowledge acquisition to employment.
- Enabling the integration of the semiconductor sector with national needs and beneficiaries in strategic applications such as artificial intelligence, smart systems, biotech, energy, and other priority sectors.
