RDI Authority Announces the Conclusion of the AI co-Innovation Program

The Research, Development, and Innovation Authority (RDI) has announced the conclusion of the AI co-Innovation Program, organized in partnership with Aramco. The program aimed to support and empower researchers in developing technological solutions that address current challenges in the energy, industrial, and logistics sectors, in line with the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
The program succeeded in transforming outstanding research ideas into actionable projects. The participating teams from startups and researchers, numbering 16 and presenting 40 innovative ideas, received expert guidance and mentorship, as well as training opportunities to develop their skills, capabilities, and knowledge. The program also witnessed the development of 22 prototypes, contributed to the incubation of 3 startup companies, allowed participants to join a national innovation community, and provided access to incubators and business accelerators supporting the creation of innovation-driven startups.
The program achieved integration between government, private, and academic sectors, with more than 15 partners, within a collaborative framework that leveraged the potential of artificial intelligence to develop high-quality solutions, contributing to the Kingdom’s leadership in energy, industry, and logistics. It developed the skills of AI researchers, leaders of innovation-driven startups supporting the knowledge economy, and outstanding students qualified to conduct advanced research using AI technologies.
The program brings together a wide array of leading partners supporting the national innovation ecosystem.
Among the Challenge Partners are the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, and King Salman International Airport Development Company.
Enablement Partners include the Ministry of Investment, King Saud University, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), IBM, CNTXT Academy, The Garage, TopEx, and the Center of Digital Entrepreneurship (CODE).
For Incubation Support, the partners include the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monshaat), 1K Mile Program, and Dhahran Techno Valley (DTV).
The AI co-Innovation Program is one of the initiatives organized by RDI as part of its partnership with Aramco. It complements a wide range of programs and initiatives aimed at providing all necessary enablers for researchers and innovators, and at developing an attractive and stimulating innovation ecosystem capable of generating solutions to both local and global challenges.
